Abstract
- This review outlines the current state of undergraduate medical education for the surgeon in training, and highlights ongoing efforts to improve the preparation of graduating students entering surgical residency. Possible models for improved integration of specialty specific training in medical school are explored, and future directions in undergraduate surgical education are considered in the context of ongoing curricular initiatives in medical schools within North America.
