First record of the sea slug Stylocheilus striatus (Quoy & Gaimard, 1825) (Anaspidea, Aplysiidae) and swarming behavior for Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique with the first record of Pleurobranchus forskalii Rüppel & Leuckart, 1828 (Nudipleura, Pleurobranchidae) for Bazaruto Island (Gastropoda, Heterobranchia)

Abstract

Two heterobranch species, Stylocheilus striatus (Quoy & Gaimard, 1825) (Anaspidea, Aplysiidae) and Pleurobranchusforskalii Rüppel & Leuckart, 1828 (Nudipleura, Pleurobranchidae) are reported for the first time for BazarutoIsland, Mozambique. Swarming behavior of Stylocheilus striatus, which was previously described for other localities,was also observed for the first time in the Bazaruto Archipelago. The sea slugs were photographed in situ and identifiedin sync with their species descriptions, photographic databases and the current literature.
