Abstract

After the Covid-19 epidemic, which affected the whole world, distance education was carried out over the internet and TV instead of face-to-face training in classrooms. Experimentation, which is an integral part of science lessons, is a point that needs to be researched how it is carried out in the distance education process. With this study, it was aimed to investigate teachers’ opinions about experimenting in science lessons in the distance education process. The study conducted with 34 science teachers. Four open-ended questions developed by researchers were asked to the teachers in order to investigate their opinions about experimenting in the distance education process. Content analysis of the obtained data was carried out. In the results obtained, teachers stated that experimenting in the distance education process was difficult due to material and technical deficiencies, students’ motivation was low and they were insuficient to activate students. However, they also stated that conducting some experiments was safer and the visuality attracted the attention of the students. As long as distance education continues, studies in which model proposals for conducting experiments, which are an integral part of science lessons should be developed. © 2020, Milli Egitim.
