Abstract

International audience; Nowadays, CEOs from most of the industries investigate digitalization opportunities. Customer preferences and behavior are driving enterprise technology choices, and internal organizational change is essential to maintain focus on the customer in today's digital world. In this complex endeavor, organizations need to operate in changing environments is addressed by proposing models that help to comprehend the depth and disruptive nature of the underlying changes. In this paper, we put forward a visual model that takes into account the properties of digital transformation. Our model is based on the Archimate metamodel; it contributes to higher information system flexibility by providing multiple decoupling concepts for business and IS designs. The focus on simplified visualization within the model aids in quickly illustrating the common ground held by the specific parties involved in digital transformation context. Its use has been validated in three industrial case studies as part of an ongoing collaboration project, whereas one case is instantiated and presented in this paper. Issues related to the use of our model and tool support are also discussed within an evaluation done with Enterprise Architects.
