Abstract
- Elastic recoil detection analysis of transmission layout (T-ERDA) has been used to determine the ratios of deuterium to hydrogen content in mylar and PPS films. The determined values of (1.64--1.65)$\times 10^{-4}$ are only slightly higher than the Standard Mean Ocean Water value ($1.55\cdots \times 10^{-4}$), indicating that no appreciable concentration of D occurs in the production process of these films. Because of its one-dimensional layout and thereby simplified analysis procedure, T-ERDA might be advantageous for common use in the analysis of deuterium in precious solid samples such as meteorites or those taken from a planet by a space probe. Furthermore, the present T-ERDA has provided the differential cross sections of the $^{32}$S($\alpha, {\rm p})^{35}$Cl nuclear reaction at a recoil angle of 0$^{\circ}$, which contribute to the database of nuclear reactions.<br />Comment: 21 pages, 9 figures
