Abstract

Summary form only given. When using quantum dot (QD) as an active region for semiconductor laser, one can confine more than one energy level, thus allowing laser effect to take place in the ground state (GS), the excited state (ES) or both simultaneously [1]. In this contribution we theoretically consider the impact of optical feedback on the mode competition between GS and ES emission. Using an analytical approach, continuation techniques and numerical integration we provide a detailed analysis of the steady-states and bifurcation scenarios predicted, thus bringing new light on recent experiments [2].
