Abstract

birds which are known to be naturally infected with Past. tularensis (Burroughs et al, 1945) serve as hosts of argasid ticks, especially of the genus Ornithodoros. Kamil and Bilal (1938) reported transmission of Past. tularensis by experimentally infected Ornithodoros lahorensis. Davis (1940), in studies of ticks of the genus Ornithodoros as potential vectors of various infectious agents, found that Past. tularensis may persist in the tissues of 0. turicata and 0.
