Abstract
- The kinetics of the rate of synthesis of the ribosomal proteins has been determined during a nutritional shift-up in E. coli. Evidence is obtained for a maximal transcription time of 2 min for possible transcriptional units for ribosomal proteins. This is in accordance with the earlier conclusion that ribosomal protein genes are clustered in several relatively small transcriptional units (Molin et al., 1974).
