Kinetics and mechanism of ligand exchange reactions of the methylbis(dimethylglyoximato)rhodium(III) complex in noncoordinating solvent

Abstract
- Axial ligand exchange reactions of the methylbis(dimethylglyoximato) rhodium(III) complex were studied in dichloromethane. When exchanging ligands have similar dissociation rate constants, reactions do not go to completion in the presence of an excess of added leaving ligand. Kinetic results for the examined reactions are fully consistent with a D mechanism, where the five-coordinate intermediate reacts at approximately the same rate with all the incoming ligands.
