Abstract

The relevance and quality of the materials used in rowing, such as oars and rowing boats, directly affect the performance and success of the athletes in training and competitions. Using inappropriate and low quality materials may cause the athlete to fail even if the athlete shows a very high performance. When procuring materials in rowing clubs, some factors such as the purpose of using the materials to be selected, the characteristics of the athletes and the budget of the club play a role in the selection of materials. At the material selection stage, the best quality material is preferred for high-level international athletes, and lower quality materials are preferred for intermediate and beginner athletes. In this sport’s branch, the selection of the appropriate equipment to be used by the athletes appears as a decision making problem because it involves many interacting factors and is very important for the success of the athletes. It is considered to use Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) techniques to solve this problem. In this article, an MCDM approach is proposed to solve such decision making problems encountered in the rowing branch.<br />The relevance and quality of the materials used in rowing, such as oars and rowing boats, directly affect the performance and success of the athletes in training and competitions.
