Abstract

We present results of an extensive study of the response of a modular TMP hadron calorimeter to electron and pion beams from 5 to 150 GeV/ c . The signal response ratio, e/π, was measured as a function of both the absorber material type and the ratio of absorber-to-TMP thicknesses. The absorbers were iron, lead and aluminum-clad lead. A detailed comparison of all the results to a Monte Carlo simulation is presented. The results with the lead absorber are consistent with those from a more limited study reported previously.
