Soils distributed on Kita-iwoto Island

北硫黄島に分布する土壌を明らかにするために、2019年6月18日～23日に現地にて土壌断面調査を実施した。調査を行った6断面中、4断面が褐色森林土、2断面が黒ボク土に分類された。これらの土壌は、父島列島および母島列島に分布する黄褐色土壌や赤色土壌よりも若い生成段階にあると考えられた。また、北硫黄島では、火山灰の影響を強く受けて黒ボク土が生成していると考えられ、この点は父島列島や母島列島の土壌には見られない特徴であると考えられた。
Soil survey was conducted to clarify soils distributed on Kita-iwoto Island in June 18th to 23rd, 2019. Among 6 soil profiles investigated in the present study, 4 were classified into Brown Forest soils, and 2 into Andosols. The soil formation stages of all the soils would be younger than those of Yellowish Brown soils and Reddish soils distributed on Chichi-jima and Haha-jima Island Groups. The Andosols on Kita-iwoto Island would be formed under the strong influence of volcanic ash, and this would be the distinct characteristics of soils on Kita-iwoto Island over those on Chichi-jima and Haha-jima Island Groups.
