Metal contamination in Ria Formosa saltmarsh sediments and halophyte vegetation

Saltmarsh vegetation may retain certain substances from anthropogenic activities in surrounding areas, providing a control of contaminants such as heavy metals, coming from industry, agriculture and urbanization.
