Fire safety and related man-environment studies

This paper, prepared originally for the Environmental Design Research Association April 1975 conference (EDRA-6), is a survey of man-environment studies concerned with life safety in fire situations. An extensive list of references and a bibliography are provided because the subject has not yet been adequately referenced either in other papers or in abstracting/indexing sources (either in the fire field or in man-environment studies). The references also provide some idea of the need for additional study of human behavior in relation to fire safety, as does the introductory review of some recent notable fire safety developments.
