Abstract
- The paper describes the CAD/CAM facilities at the National Research Council Institute for Marine Dynamics in St. John's, Newfoundland. The use of CAD/CAM technology for the design and manufacture of model ship hulls and propellers has been developed at NRC during the past 16 years. Specialised numerically controlled machine tools have been an important part of this development. A brief history of CAD/CAM applications at IMD is provided, followed by a description of current facilities and ongoing projects. Several examples of models produced are illustrated and plans for future developments are discussed.<br />42nd Canadian Maritime Industries Association Technical Conference, February 27, 1990, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
