Does the strength of ice depend on grain size at high temperatures?

Abstract
- The measurement of the tensile strength of ice is re- analysed to demonstrate that the initial test results did not indicate the true effect of grain size. It is shown that improper specimen geometry, difficulties in controlling deformation and strain rates during testing and the presence of large numbers of inclusions in the material influenced the results.
