Developmental model of a material and technical support centre functioning as a fundamental base for experimental work in the subject science and technics

Abstract

Prispevek prikazuje model materialno-tehnične podpore eksperimentalnemu delu pri predmetu naravoslovje in tehnika v 4. in 5. razredu osnovne šole (starost učencev od 9 do 11 let). Model izhaja iz raziskave, v kateri smo predhodno preučili materialno podporo za izvajanje eksperimentalnega dela pri predmetu naravoslovje in tehnika. Raziskava je zajela 497 učiteljev razrednega pouka v 4. ali 5. razredu osnovne šole, in sicer 32,20 % učiteljev iz razvitejše Zahodne kohezijske regije Slovenije in 67,80 % učiteljev iz Vzhodne kohezijske regije Slovenije (Delčnjak, 2008). Največje ovire za izvajanje eksperimentalnega dela na razredni stopnji predstavljajo: pomanjkanje materialne podpore, zbiranje, priprava, kompletiranje, shranjevanje, prevelike skupine učencev, slabi prostorski pogoji in potreba po pomočniku. Na osnovi naše raziskave lahko z gotovostjo zatrdimo, da razredni učitelji potrebujejo kakovostnejšo materialno in kadrovsko podporo pri poučevanju naravoslovja in tehnike. Izhajajoč iz teh predpostavk, in na osnovi določenih lastnih ter tujih izkušenj smo razvili model materialno-tehnične podpore eksperimentalnemu delu na razredni stopnji, ki je koncipiran na institucionalno organiziranost. The article presents a model of material and technical support to experimental work in the subject Science and Technics taught in the fourth and fifth grades of elementary school (children between 9 and 11 years of age). The model is based on a research which studied material support in the execution of experimental activities in the subject Science and Technics. The study involved 497 classroom teachers of the fourth and fifth grades of elementary school, of which 32.20 per cent came from the Western cohesion regions of Slovenia and 67.80 per cent from the Eastern cohesion regions of Slovenia (Delčnjak S., 2008). The largest obstacles in executing experimental work at the class level are: insufficient material support, collection, preparation, completion, storage, groups consisting of too many pupils, poor classroom conditions, and lack of an assistant. Based on our research we can say with confidence that primary school teachers need better quality material and HR support in teaching science and technology. On the basis of these assumptions as well as on certain personal experience and that of others, we have developed a model of material and technical support for experimental work at the class level, the concept of which is in line with institutional organisation.
