Abstract
- The purpose of this thesis is to explore the question whether students of the Faculty of Economics are more rationally selfish than students of other faculties of the University of Economics. The specific research method that was used is the ultimatum game with the dictator game as a supplement. I applied regression and descriptive analysis to my dataset. According to the overall results, one could deduce that students of the Faculty of Economics are indeed different; however, these results are not significant enough to confirm the selfish-tendency hypothesis. Egalitarians who divided the 200 Czech crowns stake equally were the most frequent group among the 160 participants of the experiment. Results of the comparison between undergraduate and graduate students of the Faculty of Economics also imply that the self-selection hypothesis can be considered more relevant than the learning hypothesis in this case.
