Reflections on the social body and the construction of identity in three contemporary Colombian narratives

La presente tesis de investigación busca recorrer las construcciones de identidad y el cuerpo social dentro de tres narrativas de escritoras colombianas contemporáneas. Por medio de la consulta de autores de variadas disciplinas y junto al diálogo con los textos narrativos, he llegado a algunas conclusiones sobre las maneras en las que las protagonistas cuestionan sus identidades como mujeres en la sociedad colombiana contemporánea de clase media. A partir de estos cuestionamientos, se plantean nuevas posibilidades frente a esa corporalidad e identidad que buscan quebrar con las dinámicas sociales del cuerpo sexualizado, del rol tradicional de la mujer y la ocupación de los espacios, entre otras. The present investigation aims to reflect upon the constructions of identity and the social body within three narratives by contemporary Colombian writers. Through the understanding of theoretical authors form various disciplines and alongside the narratives, I have drawn some conclusions about the ways in which the main characters of the stories question their identities as women from the contemporary middle class Colombian society. As a response to these questionings, the main characters adopt new possibilities of experiencing their corporality and identities, which aim to break through the social dynamics of the sexualized body, women’s social roll, and the transit and experience of places, among others.
