El manejo de la prostitución en Bogotá durante la república de la Nueva Granada. Observaciones desde el imaginario de feminidad

El trabajo de grado titulado "El manejo de la prostitución en Bogotá durante la república de la Nueva Granada. Observaciones desde el imaginario de feminidad", es una investigación que pretende dar claridad acerca de la manera en que las elites y autoridades de la capital de la República de la Nueva Granada (1832-1858), enfrentaron el problema de la prostitución en Bogotá. Para esto, abordamos una perspectiva basada en los aportes hechos desde la historia cultural, respecto al uso de los imaginarios en la investigación social, para dilucidar la manera en que estos influyeron en la manera de hacer frente a un problema que algunos consideraban de simple orden moral, pero que para otros tenía ribetes de criminalidad. Our interest is to reveal which were the strategies of social control imposed by the State, as opposed to the exercise of prostitution in the capital of the Republic of New Granada. We will understand the traditional ideal of femininity, as an imaginary, and therefore, as a social construct. The image of the Virgin Mary will serve as an obligatory reference in the Catholic imaginary as the greatest representation of the beautiful sex, while on the other hand, we have the fallen woman. In the press of the time, we find representations of the archetypes that were constructed through the traditional ideal of femininity, where women were perceived in a negative way, because they could not materialize the minimums that imaginary demanded. The construction of a legal body that dealt with the problem of prostitution, was approached from moral perspectives, which did not take into account the reality of women, seeking to embed them in the established models. The constitution of a police force is at the center of the debate, as it was the only way to enforce the law, in a moment of great political distrust and ideological alienation of the sides.
