However, the relationship between respiratory obstruction, malocclusion, and facial growth continues to be debated, due to studies finding methodological flaws such as no randomization and no control group. This research aimed to assess the dimensions of the pharyngeal airway space in growing patients after a RPE protocol. Methodology: A retrospective study was performed, through cephalometric evaluation in 30 patients. They were divided into 2 groups: Experimental group with 15 patients of both genders, aged 7-10 years in need of RPE, treated with Hyrax and maxillary constriction. Control group with 15 patients without ERP, paired in terms of gender and age, without transverse deficiency of the upper jaw. Airway measurements, Nasopharynx (NF), Oropharynx (OF) and Hypopharinx (HF) were performed on initial lateral head radiographs and 1 year after the ERP protocol ended.
