Redness of the face: differential diagnosis, diagnostics and treatment

Crvenilo lica kliničko je obilježje mnogobrojnih dermatoza kao i fizioloških promjena u vaskularnom sustavu tijela i sistemskih bolesti. Eritem je najčešće posljedica upalnih procesa koji se događaju u koži migriranjem upalnih stanica i uzrokovanjem vaskularnih promjena. Dermatovenerolog može već na temelju kliničkog pregleda i anamneze pacijenta u većini slučajeva dijagnosticirati o kojoj se bolesti radi. Diferencijalno dijagnostički postoji širok spektar bolesti koje se očituju eritemom lica, a u najčešće od njih ubrajaju se sljedeće: rozaceja, dermatomikoze, seboroični dermatitis, perioralni dermatitis, fotodermatoze, alergijske reakcije i reakcije uzrokovane lijekovima. Uloga stomatologa nije dijagnosticiranje i liječenje dermatoza koje se očituju eritemom lica, ali je znanje o najčešćim dijagnozama korisno zbog savjetovanja pacijenta i upućivanja na daljnju obradu specijalista. U ovome radu opisane su neke od najčešćih dermatoza koje uzrokuju pojavu eritema lica njihova klinička slika, dijagnostika, diferencijalna dijagnoza i terapijski postupci. Facial redness is a clinical feature of numerous dermatoses as well as physiological changes in the body's vascular system and systemic diseases. Erythema is often the result of inflammatory processes that manifest in the skin as a migration of inflammatory cells and by causing vascular changes. In most cases, a dermatovenerologist can give a diagnosis of the disease based on a clinical examination and the patient's anamnesis. In differential diagnosis, there is a wide range of diseases manifested by facial erythema, the most common of which are rosacea, dermatomycoses, seborrheic dermatitis, perioral dermatitis, photodermatoses, allergic reactions and reactions caused by drugs. The dentist's role is not to diagnose and treat dermatoses manifested by facial erythema, but the knowledge of the most common diagnoses is useful for patient counseling and referral to specialists for further treatment. This thesis describes some of the most common dermatoses that cause facial erythema, their clinical manifestations, diagnosis, differential diagnosis and therapeutic procedures.
