Abstract

This paper is a study of the Plato’s Symposium about the narrative (full of nostalgia) of love discourses. In the verbal scenography of text can be read the platonic criticism on the concept of pederastic widsom which is transmitted by contact between men. Plato suggests to replace it with a female figure of wisdom that is transmitted not by physical contact, but by psychic acceptance. The link between form and content, that exists in the Plato’s dialogues, requires that such a concept is presented by a woman, Diotima. She represents the creative experience of generation: the philosophical look which embraces the whole Earth and captures the essence of beings giving them names and life.
