Abstract

In order to achieve carbon neutrality and all targets set by the European Union it is necessary to change the energy system. To determine the optimal direction of energy system development it is necessary to make simulations. Simulations were done in two different simulation tools: ESST and Energyplan. Two scenarios were analysed: S1 according to Green book (Zelena knjiga) and its modification. S1 does not satisfy all the goals set for year 2050, so its modification consists of quicker transition towards climate neutrality. With bigger and more intensive investing in renewable energy sources and optionally nuclear energy, energy system of Croatia can become carbon neutral and satisfy all the goals set for 2050.
