Abstract
1996. year is a double anniversary for Serbian civil works. For that reason this article has a character of anniversary editorial article. First anniversary is 150 years of Civil Engineering School in Serbia. Therefore, development of civil engineering studies is presented historically in the article. Second anniversary relates to the oldest construction made by Serbian builders at the territory of nowadays Serbia. It is the Sent. Peter's and Paul's church, near Novi Pazar, 1100 years old. Its central part, was build in the last decade of IX century and is still preserved. That oldest preserved construction in Serbia is presented in the article.
