ACCELERATION OF CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS

The legal framework for speeding up criminal proceedings (Chapter Twenty-six of the Code of Criminal Procedure) has conceptual ambiguity and inconsistency. The Institute of Accelerators finds limited use in the two phases of criminal proceedings and its regulation creates practical problems that, in its application, will lead to a delay in the criminal process instead of stimulating its closure within a reasonable timeframe.
