Abstract
- 389 SUMMARY Kısasu'l-Enbiya, which is a work in Harezm Turkish, was written by Burha- noğlu Kadı Nasır in 1310 (710 years after Hijra). Because the author was from a town called Ribat Oğuz, he use the pen name of Rabguzi. The author presented the work, which he called izlegen bat tapkay, işi t ken bat bilgey tep Kisas-i Rabguzi at berdtik to Nasıreddin Tok Buga, one of Chagatay Khan Tarmaşirin's commenders. In the praises of Tok Buga that the author wrote in the beginning of his book, he stated that Tok Buga was originally a Mongol who later convested to Islam. The book was writen in order to meet the needs of masses of Turkish people who newly converted to Islam. Kısasu'l-Enbiya is composed of the staries of Mo hammed and the other prophets that Islam recognizes, Harut and Marut, and 'Avac b. 'Annak and the like. You also come across gazels and other the artfully and rationally writen stories in prose. Rabguzi tried to use a rhetorical style even when telling religions topics and started eachprophet's life with an introduction in rhy med prose. Moreover he frequently referred to kronic verses and Mohammed's ma xims. 1 Kısasu'l-Enbiya consist of 249 leafs in all. the work begins with thanksgiving and eulogy to God follewed by provises to Mohammed and Tok Buga. The main topic starts with the creation of the world and beginning with Adam (peace be upon him) storiers of the prophets are told. In this M.A. thesis, which is based on the London copy and covering the leats of lv-53v, the following storiers are included respectively: The story of Adam 5r-15r; the story of Habil and Kabil 15r-17v; the story of Şis 'as 17v-19v; the story of Idris 'as 19v-21r; the story of Harut and Marut 21r-22v; the sory and Noah Neciyy 'as 22v-28r; the story of 'Avac b. Annak 28r-28v; the story of Hud 'as 28v-31r; the story of Salih Yalavaç 'as 31r-37v; the story of Ibrahim Halil 'as 37v-47v; the story of Isma'il 47v-52v; the story of Bina-yi Ka'be 52v-H3v. In the `introduction` part this study, the contents of the work, the copies of the work, studies done on the work and lingwistic characteristics of the work are dealt with. In the `passage` section, the transcription of the passage is provided with foot notes about certain point that need explanation. In the `index` part the KB-Index stystem in taken as the basis. An `index of proper names` is also provided. 391
