Living with irritable bowel syndrome. When the body rules everyday life

Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den bio-psycho-öko-sozialen Bedürfnissen von Menschen mit der Diagnose Reizdarm. Da das sogenannte „Reizdarmsyndrom“, welches meist in den medizinischen Bereich eingestuft wird, den Lebensalltag der Betroffenen deutlich beeinflusst, hebt diese Arbeit vor allem den sozialen Aspekt der Erkrankung hervor. Durch die qualitative Forschung und Auswertung werden die Bedürfnisse der Betroffenen dargestellt und auf Möglichkeiten zur Verbesserung der Lebensqualität hingewiesen. Die Frage inwiefern die Klinische Soziale Arbeit einen Beitrag leisten kann, soll anhand der bio-psycho-öko-sozialen Zusammenhänge von Belastungen, Einschränkungen und Copingstrategien hinsichtlich eines Alltags mit Reizdarmsyndrom beantwortet werden. Die Forschungsarbeit bietet einen Einblick in die Lebenswelt der Reizdarmsyndrom Betroffenen und verdeutlicht, dass eine rein medizinische Auseinandersetzung für die Entstehung und den Verlauf der Erkrankung nicht ausreichend ist, sondern mehrere Bereiche, wie lebensweltliche Bedingungen oder Voraussetzungen, das soziales Umfeld und Unterstützung sowie gesellschaftlicher Umgang mit der Thematik ausschlaggebend sind. This work deals with the bio-psycho-eco-social needs of people diagnosed with irritability bowel syndrome. Since the so-called "irritable bowel syndrome", which is usually classified in the medical field, significantly affects the everyday life of the patients this work primarily emphasizes the social aspect of the disease. Through the qualitative research and evaluation the needs of those affected are presented and the possibilities for improving their quality of life are pointed out. The question of how the Clinical Social Work can make a contribution is to be answered by means of the bio-psycho-eco-social contexts of stress, restrictions and coping strategies concerning the everyday life with irritable bowel syndrome. The research work provides an insight into the lifeworld of those suffering from irritable bowel syndrome and makes clear that a sole medical examination is not sufficient for the development and process of the disease, but several areas such as lifeworld conditions, the social environment and support as well as social treatment of the subject matter.
