L’exploitation des prairies marécageuses de la Verpillière et du Grand Plan (Isère), de la Protohistoire au xixe siècle

Cet article traite de l’exploitation des marais au sud et à l’est de l’Isle Crémieu (Isère) par les sociétés riveraines depuis la Protohistoire jusqu’au XIXe s. On s’attachera à montrer comment les pratiques du pâturage et du fauchage, associées au développement des systèmes d’irrigation et de drainage ont artificialisé le paysage, notamment depuis le Second âge du Fer. The subject of this paper is to discuss about the exploitation of the wetlands located around l’Isle Crémieu in north Isère by the bordering populations of the marshes from Protohistoric times to the XIXth century. We try to demonstrate how pasture and mowing practices, associated with irrigation and drainage systems have modified landscape, in particular since the Second iron Age.
