Abstract

We investigated an effect of a new cognitive and motor dual-task performance (DT) intervention called ‘Synapsology’ program (SYNAP) for the oldest-old women living in nursing home. Subjects (n=15) were aged 85 to 95 (mean: 89.5 ± 3.3) and we received the agreement of the subjects and their guardians. Participants carried out DT for 30 min once a week for 48 weeks. (1 to 24 weeks: the program with the professional instructors, 25 to 48 weeks: self-exercise based on the same program performed before). Evaluation items were in the cognitive function by mini mental state examination (MMSE) and in the physical function by grip strength, one-leg balance with eyes open and 6-m habitual walk test.
