The Photoluminescence Properties of CaYAI₃O₇:Ce³⁺, Tb³⁺, Sm³⁺ Prepared by the Sol-Gel Process

Abstract
- This paper reports the synthesis and luminescence properties of rare earth doped CaYAI₃O₇ prepared via a sol-gel process. The phosphors have intense luminescence. In Ce³⁺/Tb³⁺ co-doped materials, there is energy transfer from Ce³⁺ to Tb³⁺ that enhances the luminescence of Tb³⁺. These materials may find applications in solid state lighting and radiation detection.
