Abstract: Thiazide-type diuretics frequently produce erectile dysfunction in men on a regular diet. However, men on a weight-loss diet have much less erectile dysfunction. Thiazide-type diuretics also produce erectile dysfunction in rats and interfere with normal copulation. The mechanism of the dysfunction and the favorable response to weight loss is unknown.
