Abstract

Since January 2023, Brazil has reaffirmed its commitment to the fight against inequalities both domestically and in regional and multilateral arenas. Among these inequalities, gender stands out, intersecting with factors such as race, social class, sexual orientation, and geographic location. In this context, foreign policy is conceived as an essential public policy for overcoming these challenges. This article presents the trajectory of Brazilian foreign policy in the promotion and defense of the rights of girls and women, linking this agenda to other traditional initiatives in Brazilian foreign policy focused on the defense of human rights, inclusion, and diversity, with an emphasis on actions undertaken during the third administration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
