Abstract
- Dyslipidemia is a major risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. Recent advancements in lipid-lowering therapies have seen progress with statins, cholesterol absorption inhibitors, PCSK9 inhibitors, and omega-3 fatty acids becoming widely utilized. Emerging new lipid-lowering drugs, including angiopoietin-like protein 3 (ANGPTL3) inhibitors, apolipoprotein C3 inhibitors, monoclonal antibodies, antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs), small interfering RNA (siRNA), and cholesterol vaccines, have diversified the therapeutic landscape, showing promising efficacy. This review explores the development and application of these lipidlowering drugs, offering new insights for therapeutic strategies.
