Abstract

Programming courses are fundamental to Informatics technical degrees. However, it has high levels of retention and evasion, which are related to the required high level of abstraction and reasoning. Aiming at enhancing learning, the storytelling’s proposed contextualized teaching seems promising. We propose the use of a didactical material in the form of a book game, with an interactive narrative interweaved with programming teaching in the context of a story, being highlighted by its interdisciplinary trait as it addresses the absolute surplus value and utilitarianism concepts. We have evaluated this method with technical degree students and the results suggest that this material has potential for programming teaching and for bringing the topic closer to other areas of knowledge.
