Abstract
- Urban green spaces constitute a real issue in the current logic of sustainable development, as much as these spaces contribute to the well-being of populations and to make cities more sustainable. However, in a context of land pressure and urban densification, these spaces are increasingly under pressure and fragmented. An alternative could be to reduce the size of private spaces to create more public green spaces, which bring more social and ecological benefits than private green spaces. Based on a field survey conducted in the urban unit of Rouen (France), the article focuses on the factors that explain the will to substitute private space for public green space.
