Limits and possibilities of actions of continuing education for elementary education for nine years

Abstract
- It is presented the research results which had as objective to un - derstand the boundaries and possibilities of the ongoing education actions, which were developed by an Education Department in the countryside of São Paulo, to the implantation of the nine-year-old Elementary School politics. By the perspective of the case study, it was used questionnaires and interviews with teachers, coordinators and the Education Department manager. It was verified a “classic” perspective of education of an informative and prescriptive level whose main objective seems to be the teachers’ updating. This view stipulates the practice of punctual and isolated courses which do not benefit the teachers’ formation who are in professional exer - cise neither the implantation of an official politics as the nine-year -old Elementary School.
