Abstract

Abstract Gallbladder stones (GS) is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. However, the relationship between cholecystectomy for GS and acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is unknown. We investigated the ACS risk in patients with GS and its association with cholecystectomy. Data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort from 2002 to 2013 was extracted. Overall, 64,370 individuals were selected through a 1:3 propensity score matching. Patients were stratified into two groups for comparison: the gallstone group, GS patients with or without cholecystectomy; and the control group, patients without GS or cholecystectomy.
