Abstract

This study examines a curricular proposal design based on the History of the Roman World titled 'From the Republic to the Empire'. A pilot implementation was carried out with a group of Compulsory Secondary Education first-year students, in the municipality of Alcalá de Guadaira (Spain). This project aimed to develop strategies to encourage student participation and to achieve greater assimilation of the contents worked in the classroom,i.e., group work, archaeological reproductions, class cards, and classic texts. After the implementation of the project and analysis was carried out, following the action-research approach to encourage reflexive practice for the improvement of the design as well as the teacher's practice and professional development.
