Per una storia della Democrazia Cristiana in Emilia-Romagna. Ordine pubblico e anticomunismo dopo i fatti di Modena

The history of Christian democratic party (DC) in Emilia-Romagna is only partially investigated by historians. By considering a variety of sources, this article reconstructs the reaction of the regional DC leadership to the deaths in Modena on 9 January 1950; the aim is to draw the general biographies of the protagonists, to highlight the role of «L’Avvenire d’Italia» and the repercussions that the debate in Emilia-Romagna had on the national leadership, using as a center of gravity the problems of public order of that year and anti-communism, widespread in large layers of Italian society.
