Abstract
- Fear of missing out (FoMO) is known as the fear of missing the opportunity to be a part of something, by being absent. It has manifested itself in the work environment. This study aimed to (a) develop the FoMO scale in the work context (Escala FoMO no Contexto do Trabalho, EFCT) and (b) verify evidence of content validity. To this end, the study had two stages: (a) development of the items, and (b) analysis of judges and semantic validation. In the first phase, forty-two managers and employees answered open-ended questions. The answers were subsequently analysed and formed the basis for the development of twenty-one items that made up the initial version of the EFCT. In the second phase, six experts evaluated the items for adequacy, relevance, and clarity; in addition to content, through the content validity coefficient (CVC). The results indicated a fifteen-item version of EFCT with satisfactory content validity. The EFCT may be useful for research interested in FoMO at work.
