Digital habits of fruit and vegetable producers and their correlation with the socioeconomic profile and rural business

Abstract

The importance of using information and communication technology (ICT) in agriculture is been recognized worldwide. The aim of this research was to analyze the relationship between the socioeconomic profile of fruit and vegetable producers with the use and appropriation of ICT. The data were been collected in direct research, through a structured questionnaire also quantitative and qualitative variables. The surveyed population were 162 producers in Tangara da Serra municipality-MT. As for the socioeconomic profile, 32% are between 51 and 60 years old, 63% have elementary education, 58% have an equal / higher family income of 4 minimum wages, 62% of the properties have up to 10 ha and only 51 producers receive technical assistance. The most used marketing channels are open markets and direct sale of the property for trade. Access to ICT occurs through cell phones, internet, appropriation through prices, suppliers research and the inputs and goods purchase. The variables that directly influence the ICT use are: age, education and property income. It is concluded that, although most of them use ICT, they have not appropriated the advantages yet that it can enable in achieving better results.
