Abstract

Highlights The associations between diastolic blood pressure and stroke events were stronger in men than women. The fasting blood plasma level was associated with higher risk of stroke events in men than women. Hypertension and diabetes were associated with higher risk of stroke events in men than women. The association between systolic blood pressure with ischemic stroke was higher in men than women.
