Abstract
- Summary: Previously developed senescent primary fibroblast models have limited relevance to study age-related changes in metabolically active tissues such as the liver. Here, we describe a protocol to generate senescent cells from the mouse hepatic cell line, AML12. These senescent cells exhibit molecular and metabolic signatures that are similar to those observed in livers from aged mice. These senescent AML12 cells should be a useful in vitro model to study the metabolic effects of aging in the liver. For complete details on the use and execution of this protocol, please refer to Singh et al. (2020).
