Indicadores sintéticos de calidad ambiental: un modelo general para grandes zonas urbanas

En este artículo se define el índice de calidad ambiental (ICA) como una variable latente determinada por un conjunto de factores que lo afectan de manera positiva y negativa. Partimos de la hipótesis de la no homogeneidad ambiental del territorio urbano, y nos proponemos definir un modelo general para la estimación del ICA a partir de la construcción de un sistema de indicadores simples y su aplicación en grandes ciudades. De este artículo se deriva información importante para que el planificador y el gestor puedan priorizar la asignación de recursos económicos, no sólo de manera diferencial entre comunas, sino por el tipo de recursos o variables ambientales que más inciden en la calidad ambientalThis paper defines the index of environmental quality (ICA) as a latent variable determined by a group of factor that affects it in a positive and negative manner. Setting off from the hypothesis of non environmental homogenous pertaining to urban territory, and following the construction of a system of simple indicators and its application in larges city. The most influential factors in the determination of the ICA by each comuna are established as well. Consequently, important information is derived, which will enable the planner and environmental agent to prioritize the assignation of economic resources, not only in a differential way among comunas but for the sort of resources or environmental variables that most affect the quality of environment
