The Relationship between School Management and the Use of Innovative Teaching Methods in Arab Schools in Israel

Abstract

The article discusses the relationship between school management, including human resource management and the implementation and use of innovative teaching methods in Arab schools in Israel in the case of students at risk. The quantitative research used a questionnaire which was administrated to 400 teachers from Arab schools situated in the central region of Israel. The results indicate a positive correlation between school management and the use of various innovative teaching methods in Arab Israeli schools dealing with students at risk. In conclusion, the use of innovative teaching methods is influenced by the management of the school including human resource management. Several recommendations for school principals are made. School principals should be promoting a school culture focused of innovation. They should actively involve all school staff categories in the process of innovation of school and provide adequate incentives to stimulate teachers to implement innovative teaching methods in their educational activity. They should also encourage and allocate needed resources for the participation of their school teachers to professional development trainings organized by teachers training centers.
