Abstract
- This paper deals with self-absorption in a cylindrical high-pressure Hg–TℓI discharge for which local thermodynamic equilibrium can be assumed. Calculations of the densities of species, especially thallium, have been performed using a parabolic temperature profile and a constant mercury/thallium ratio throughout the discharge tube. This paper focuses on studying the self-absorption thallium lines by comparing them to those of mercury. Particular attention has been paid to the study of the additive effects on the self-absorption of spectral intensities.
