Francesca, Pia, Madame du Merret. Percorsi del tragico da Dante all’Ottocento

The contribution questions some relationships between the study in the second half of the 19th century of the history and medieval idea of tragedy and the revival of Dante’s plots and characters on the stage and in the pages of the novel, with particular reference to Francesca da Rimini, Pia de’ Tolomei up to Balzac’s Madame du Merret.
