Abstract
- Cruise lines design their voyages based on specific determinants that influence cruise shipping network formation and connectivity. This study investigated cruise shipping network connectivity using the exponential random graph model (ERGM) and found that the connectivity of the studied network was affected by the ports’ attributes. The network had location, rating score and degree assortativity, indicating that ports with the same attributes tended to connect to each other. The analysis also indicated that the network comprised six clusters, four of which were led by hub ports. The findings of this study could assist cruise lines and authorities in their decision-making in relation to improving their operations, port connectivity and competitiveness, as well as voyage planning.
