Precursor activities to expertise perceived by pre-service soccer coaches

Abstract

The main objective of this study was to analyze the perception of soccer pre-service coaches about training activities that promote skills acquisition of soccer players. 76 pre-service coaches participated (M age = 24.6 years old). This perception was assessed through a valid questionnaire used in previous studies whose results show that for these pre-service coaches, the best activity to improve performance are competition matches. This result highlight highlights the need to develop training activities simulating competition requirements. Also it was found that exist a great relationship between effort and concentration required in training activities to contribute to the athletes performance. Concentration and effort should be features that need to be present continuously in training activities to develop expertise.
